The Minister for Science, Research, and Innovation of the Czech republic, Marek Ženíšek, together with Deputy Minister Pavel Doleček, visited the prestigious laser center ELI (The Extreme Light Infrastructure ERIC). During their visit, they discussed current and future directions of scientific and technological development with ELI ERIC Director General Allen Weeks and ELI Beamlines Facility Director Roman Hvězda.
Minister Ženíšek was thoroughly introduced to the scientific achievements and strategic goals of the ELI center. The discussions focused on opportunities for further collaboration and the development of the center, not only in the field of science but also in technology transfer. The program also included a presentation on the user program, which provides scientists from around the world access to unique laser facilities.
The highlight of the visit was a tour of the 10PW L4 ATON laser, one of the most powerful laser systems in the world. The minister also visited the E3 experimental hall, dedicated to plasma physics. In conclusion, he was briefed on the center’s plans for technology transfer, which could bring innovative solutions not only to science but also to the industrial sector.
This visit reaffirms the importance of scientific centers like ELI for the advancement of science and innovation in the Czech Republic and their growing role on the international stage.
