ELI Beamlines and HiLASE Centre are opening pre-registration for the 2025 Talent Academy – a unique program for curious high school students who want to explore the world of physics, chemistry, optics, programming, 3D printing, and other scientific disciplines.

Why the Talent Academy?
The Talent Academy gives high school students a head start and a glimpse into the world of science before graduation. But it’s more than just gaining scientific knowledge – participants get to experience real scientific work and open doors to future careers in research.
What awaits the Talent Academy finalists?
- Hands-on scientific experience
Under the guidance of Czech and international experts, finalists will tackle real scientific challenges – from designing experiments and working with cutting-edge equipment to measuring, analyzing, and presenting results. - Key skill development
Participants will enhance teamwork, presentation, and problem-solving skills while learning to manage time pressure and challenging situations effectively.
How does the Talent Academy work?
The program consists of two main phases:
- Online round (May–September 2025)
Participants will complete a cover questionnaire and design a home science experiment. Judges will assess critical thinking, the ability to connect theory with practice, and creativity. - Final round (October 18–20, 2025)
The twelve highest-scoring students will meet in Dolní Břežany for an intensive scientific weekend in the state-of-the-art laboratories of the ELI Beamlines and HiLASE laser centres. They will engage in team projects and collaborate with scientists and engineers.
In previous years, the Talent Academy has focused on topics such as quantum dots – key components in nanotechnology – and laser applications in space. And this year’s theme? Stay tuned, we’ll reveal it soon!
The Talent Academy doesn’t end with the finals. Each year, selected finalists are offered internships and long-term collaboration opportunities – whether in science popularization or real research projects.
