We conduct fundamental research. The primary mission of ELI Beamlines is to operate the most advanced laser systems in the world—a goal that has already been achieved and implemented through research projects exploring the interaction of light with matter at intensities ten times greater than those currently attainable. Utilizing ultra-short laser pulses lasting only a few femtoseconds and delivering outputs of up to 10 petawatts, ELI provides groundbreaking techniques and tools for fundamental research, as well as applications in fields such as medical imaging and diagnostics, radiotherapy, advanced materials, and X-ray optics.
