We conduct fundamental research. The core mission of ELI Beamlines is to operate the world's most advanced laser systems—a goal that has already been achieved and realized through research projects investigating the interaction of light with matter at intensities ten times greater than those currently achievable. By harnessing ultra-short laser pulses lasting only a few femtoseconds and delivering outputs of up to 10 petawatts, ELI pioneers groundbreaking techniques and tools for fundamental research. These innovations also have far-reaching applications in fields such as medical imaging and diagnostics, radiotherapy, advanced materials, and X-ray optics.
